Trusting the Flow — May Affirmation

💬 I am trusting the flow; by surrendering what is falling away, I make room for what is meant to stay.

Last month, I wrote about leading with grace; the art of maintaining my soft center even when faced with the friction of a high-pressure role. I was proud of my Velvet Boss energy, believing I had finally mastered navigating that specific environment.

Ironically, the Universe had other plans once again.

On the first of April, in what felt like a cosmic April Fool’s joke, the role in which I was working so hard to lead with grace vanished. I lost my job, and the place where I was practicing my boundaries.

The irony was real: the Universe did not want me to lead with grace in that role; it wanted me to leave it behind.

I usually tend to fixate on the prize. Rather than forcing a closed door, I instantly sprint toward the next one. Since we are planning to leave Malta, my default would have been to chase the next income target regardless of whether the work actually fulfills me.

But this month, I am learning that trusting the flow isn’t just a catchy phrase, but an act of profound courage. It is the choice to stop sprinting for a moment and realize that being redirected is not a delay but a gift.

Why Trusting the Flow is the Ultimate Authority

In the past, I struggled to surrender, not because I saw it as a weakness, but because I felt the need to stay in control.

I believed that being one step ahead of everything was the only way to feel secure.

To me, if I was not constantly pushing, I was not progressing. I treated my career like a mountain I had to conquer through sheer force of will, rather than a river I could navigate with ease.

When this job fell away, I expected to feel heavy. Instead, I felt light.

Ultimately, I realized that the environment I was trying so hard to endure with grace was actually toxic. It was dimming my shine and draining the very soft energy I worked so hard to reclaim in March.

I realized that the Universe was not punishing me for losing my job. In fact, it provided a great chance to de-clutter my life.

Trusting the flow means acknowledging that some things fall away because they no longer have the capacity to carry you where you are supposed to go.

When you stop gripping the past, your hands finally become empty enough to receive the future.

I am no longer an employee trying to fit into a mold. I am a fluid creator, finally free to invest my energy into my own passions. This means more time for blogging, writing, and the dream of being fully self-led.

What the Redirection Taught Me

This sudden transition taught me that my value is not tied to a title or a company’s approval. When you are no longer performing for a paycheck, you start being for yourself.

I am learning that:

✨ Release is a form of growth

Letting go of a toxic situation is just as productive as starting a new project.

✨ Space is a gift

The void between jobs is not empty; it is full of potential for the things I actually love.

✨ Inner peace is the best boss

I don’t need a corporate structure to tell me I am capable. My skills remain, even when the desk is gone.

What Trusting the Flow Looks Like in Practice

This month is about leaning into the whim. It is about being observant rather than reactive.

It looks like:

🍃 Choosing curiosity over fear

Instead of asking “Why did this happen?”, I’m asking “What can I create now that I have the time?”

🎨 Nurturing personal seeds

Giving my blog and social media the energy I used to give to someone else’s company.

🌊 Practicing the Open Palm

Living with the understanding that what is truly meant for me cannot be lost, and what leaves was never mine to keep.

From Forcing to Flowing

We often think we need to be the architects of every single moment.

However, there is a different kind of power in being the gardener. It is the art of planting your seeds, tending to your spirit, and trusting the seasons to do the rest.

Leading with grace makes me unshakeable, and trusting the flow makes me unstoppable. I am no longer using my energy to hold onto a life that was too small for me. Instead, I am simply existing in my potential and letting the current carry me home to myself.

Finding Your Flow

This month, I am practicing the art of being on a whim yet deeply grounded. I am proving to myself that I can handle the uncertainty of the unknown without losing the soft energy I found in March or the grace I found in April.

If this affirmation about trusting the flow resonates with you, I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram @longbluofficial.

Finally, let me know:

🌿 What is currently falling away in your life that you are struggling to let go of?

🌿 What would you create today if you were not afraid of the void?

Remember, you do not have to force the river. You have to stay in the boat.

Elevate your trust. Empower your transition. Evolve through the flow.

Hugs,
Mikki
