Portugal has quickly become one of our most cherished destinations. It blends rich history, vibrant culture, and awe-inspiring landscapes into an unforgettable travel experience.
Whether craving golden coastlines, charming towns, or cultural deep dives, this place truly has everything.

Our Portugal Travel Stories Are Just Getting Started
At this point, we have spent almost three weeks in Portugal, discovering its treasures. However, we are far from done.
From the coastal cliffs of the mainland to the lush interior and enchanting islands, Portugal offers layers of discovery.
Here are the reasons we are so obsessed.

Mikki’s Top Five Reasons to Love Portugal
- What stands out most is the warmth of the people. The locals are genuinely kind and often go out of their way to help, making every interaction meaningful.
- It is surprisingly easy to connect with the Portuguese. Many Portuguese speak English and are always eager to communicate, even if they are not fluent.
- And then there is port wine, which honestly needs no introduction. It is a total delight.
- The climate is another big plus. Portugal is warm and sunny but rarely hits those unbearable highs. Mikki is not a fan of roasting in +40°C. Thus, this kind of weather is just right.
- And finally, it is a budget-friendly destination. You can travel well, eat beautifully, and enjoy rich experiences without breaking the bank.
And as Mikki puts it, one of the most memorable parts of traveling through Portugal is the way people make you feel at home:
“I admire how welcoming everyone is in Portugal. I will never forget the fado band that sang to me on my birthday or the elderly lady who gave us a complete sarine guide – even though we did not order sardines! Stories like these? I have so many that I am excited to share in our posts”.

Andy’s Top Five Reasons to Love Portugal
- Portugal’s diversity is immediately apparent. The rich cultural mix creates a sense of belonging and openness throughout the country.
- The landscapes are just as diverse. Golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, lush valleys, and rolling hills make every region feel like a discovery.
- Bifanas. These delicious pork sandwiches are a simple but unforgettable part of the food experience.
- What keeps surprising us is the number of hidden gems scattered across the country — Portugal is full of unexpected treasures.
- At last, the seasonal weather. While many assume Portugal is sunny year-round, it offers four distinct seasons. This natural rhythm brings a refreshing balance and makes each visit grounded in time.
Andy also shared a reflection from his very first visit — a moment that captured what Portugal meant on a deeper level:
“From the first step off the plane, Portugal felt like home. As a person of color, I felt safe, respected, and welcome. People were not just friendly — they were real. They wanted to share their stories, food, and country with us. Enter with an open heart, and Portugal truly gives back.”
We hope our reflections spark your curiosity for Portugal. Below, you’ll find Portugal travel stories, moments, and impressions that made us fall in love with this country.
