About the Festival

Since 2007, this festival has become a Mediterranean favourite, known for its diverse music stages that include genres like house, and hip-hop.
Earth Garden isn’t solely about music; it also includes workshops, enlightening talks, an ethnic market, and a kids’ fun park. Aiming to celebrate diversity and inclusivity where music and culture unite.
Why I Went to the Earth Garden Festival

This year, I (Mikki) experienced the Earth Garden Festival in Malta for the first time.
Although I am not particularly interested in alternative music, I was intrigued by Thrive Malta and their ‘Healing Fields’ setup at the festival. Thus, my curiosity led me to go and see it for myself.
Let’s dive into a quick story time, dear readers.
Welcome to The Healing Fields
The Healing Fields is a co-created space for interactive workshops on diverse topics related to our planet and people run by Thrive Malta.
Their aim is to create a community haven for festival guests, offering a place for learning, exploration, and transformation.
Exploring Personal and Planetary Wellbeing

They provide opportunities to experience community, connection, and alternative knowledge on self-awareness, spirituality, personal growth, sustainability, conscious activism, and permaculture.
Moreover, aiming to share knowledge that supports happier, healthier living for mind, body, and spirit while learning to better serve our planet and people.
Past Workshops and Future Vision

Thrive Malta have previously hosted workshops about mindfulness, breath work, healing, martial arts etc.
The Healing Fields is created by a team of ambassadors aiming to help us thrive as individuals and in harmony with our environment.
Our Experience at The Healing Fields
When Andy and I arrived, we were quickly carried away by the atmosphere of the Healing Fields. Despite being surrounded by alternative music and festive camping areas, it was a peaceful sanctuary hidden from the festival’s bustle.
I especially appreciated their non-alcohol and no-smoking policy, which made participating in the workshops very enjoyable.
Communication Workshop at Earth Garden

As we incorporate slow living into our lives, we arrived quite late, allowing us time for only a few workshops. Nonetheless, I didn’t regret going at all.
We attended the workshop ‘Communication that connects’ by Rico Bergemann. I LOVED it!
The focus of the workshop is clear from its title, but Rico provided his perspective about communication types that connect and those that separate people, all aiming to create a sense of unity.
Engaging Exercises for Deep Connection
Throughout the workshop, we engaged in several exercises. Some might find the first exercise intimidating, but I found it genuinely enjoyable.
We had to catch eye contact with a stranger, pair up, and sit barefoot facing each other on the ground. Then, we did an exercise with closed eyes, taking turns to express our current body sensations, followed by another where we kept our eyes open and described our current feelings.
The objective was to connect and listen without judgement or interruption.
A Heartwarming Festival Experience

This was truly a meaningful and emotional experience. The guy and I didn’t know each other, yet we connected and discovered shared inner emotions.
We ended with an exercise encouraging us to express what we need to improve within ourselves.
I almost cried after this; it was so heartwarming. Many people have emotions and thoughts they want to share, but we often focus on fixing things instead of just listening and acknowledging their feelings.
This workshop was definitely a 5/5 for me, and I’ll be cherishing this experience for a long time.
What We Learned About General Health at Earth garden

Next, we attended another workshop centred on general health. It was insightful to gain different perspectives on enhancing a more holistic approach to health.
While some believe health is linked solely to our eating habits, it truly involves how we treat ourselves as a whole. Sleep and good habits are essential, along with emotional clearing, wellness practices, natural medicine, and sacred connections.
I’ve recently realised that achieving great physical and mental health requires balancing all aspects of our life.
I truly appreciated this workshop, though I believe one should always rely on their own perception of health. We can draw inspiration and apply new methods, but there isn’t a single truth to health that works for everyone.
Your truth is your own.
Reflections on the Festival and Its Offerings

Following the workshops, we decided to stroll around and explore the festival area. There were plenty of stalls to discover, and I ended up buying some nice earrings from the ethnic market.
I also appreciated the healthier alternatives offered at the food trucks.
Although I could have spent more time at the festival, I am still not a huge fan of alternative music or big crowds. However, the vibe seemed pretty cool, and I think it would be interesting to experience more of Earth Garden next year.
I am happy that I went, if not for the music, then for the insights gained from the workshops.
